Allocation Adjustment Time

Happy New Year to all. I wish you all a healthy, happy, and prosperous new year. As is the case, every new year, people make resolutions. I normally don’t, but I stepped on the scale this morning and realized I need to make a few changes. While the excess is likely due to too much seasonal celebration, it’s clear that I need ti make some changes to my intake.

Speaking of changes, if you practice asset allocation, it may be time for you to make a few adjustments to your holdings. Reminder, there is an asset allocation tool in the spreadsheet section. Also, if you are making changes, it’s likely that you will be selling holdings which had gains last year. Congratulations on the gains. It’s better to make such changes once your holdings have been in your portfolio for more than one year thereby making them long term holdings, so if you made trades last year on January 3rd, you might want to wait until January 4th before making your asset allocation trades this year. Also, you could avoid making trades simply by adding new money into the smaller holdings thereby bringing up their percentages.
